HISTORY
FROM 1998 TO TODAY
In 1998
AUTOTRANS was set up as a subsidiary of the NAVITRANS Group, in partnership with the shipping company, HUAL (now HOEGH AUTOLINERS), a world-wide Norwegian ship-owner specialized in sea transport of rolling cargoes.
Right from the start
AUTOTRANS has been intent on offering both its professional and individual clients competitive and top-quality service in organizing forwarding and shipping operations to worldwide destinations for all types of rolling stock (cars, vans, coaches and buses, trucks, mining and public works equipment, agricultural machinery, etc…) and for high and heavy static cargo either oversized or uncontainerizable.
From 1998 to 2002
The company’s expansion was first based on shipping operations for second hand vehicles to Africa, the Indian Ocean and the West Indies, and then services were extended to shipping operations for new vehicles on behalf of importers and exporters.
In 2003
A team of specialists from TTA, a subsidiary of the SDV Group, joined in. AUTOTRANS became the major provider of transportation services for new and second hand rolling cargo to the Overseas Department and Territories. In this context joint ventures were formed with the SDV Group based on a wide network of contacts.
In 2005
AUTOTRANS created a logistics department dedicated to car manufacturers and responsible for coordinating new car shipments leaving Northern Europe and Mediterranean ports towards various destinations worldwide.
2006
The HOEGH AUTOLINERS Group took over all the shares of the AUTOTRANS Company. In the same year AUTOTRANS was certified as ISO 9001 compliant after being audited by BUREAU VERITAS.
In 2007 and 2008
A land transport sector was developed, with a special operations division and car rally assistance.
In 2010
AUTOTRANS has applied for Authorised Economic Operator Certificate (Customs simplifications/Security and safety)
Nowadays
AUTOTRANS is shipping more than 10,000 rolling units per month worldwide, bent on constantly improving and enlarging its service to individuals and firms of any size: exporters, importers, carriers, vehicle body builders, public works companies, industrials and car manufacturers…
